Notification to residents

We notify you about changes to the water supply or provide information about services such as chimney sweeping. We may also use notifications in emergency situations.

Notifications from the municipality

We use https://www.varslemeg.no to send alerts. You will receive messages via SMS to mobile phones and voice messages to landlines.

Who receives notifications?

We can send alerts to residents and businesses across the entire municipality or to a specific area. Residents under the age of 16 do not receive notifications.

What don’t we send notifications about?

We do not use SMS to notify about polluted bathing water. If swimming areas are affected by pollution, we will clearly signpost them to inform the public.

Emergency alerts

Emergency alerts are a service from the Norwegian authorities. This means that if a serious situation arises with an immediate threat to life and health where you are, you may receive an emergency alert on your mobile phone.

What if we lose all power?

Here’s what you should prepare in case you lose contact with the outside world

  • a battery-powered radio with DAB+ to receive information. A few media outlets still broadcast on the FM network
  • make a list of emergency numbers in case the mobile network works and you need help

Information during a total power outage

A power outage will challenge today’s digital communication methods. The municipality has prepared specific plans for this. If there is a power outage, schools, libraries, and Arendal culture and town hall will serve as information points for Arendal municipality. We will primarily communicate via posters.
