Arendal has a big international community and there are several big happenings throughout the year. Some of them are:

Arranged in june/july. The market is Arendal summer's most exotic arrangement - a colorful meeting between different cultures and cultural expressions. In an aroma of delicious foods the Channel Square is turned into a busy marketplace. SØR amfi is a great sports facility with two normal halls, special halls for tennis and gymnastics. Outside there is a skate park, volleyball courts and outdoor tennis courts.
Stinta swimming pool is a public bath and Arendal's only 25 meter pool.
Arendal has a wonderful skating facility situated in Arendal sports park at Myra.
Arendal library is located right in the city center.
For children and youth
The Culture school offers activities in music, visual arts and drama for children. A highly educated and professional staff welcomes students to study the arts at any chosen level.
